A pouch lithium battery is just a liquid lithium-ion battery with a layer of polymer casing. The structure is packaged with aluminum-plastic film, and the soft-packaged lithium battery will only bulge and crack without exploding to prevent potential safety hazards. Soft-pack lithium batteries have the advantages of good safety performance, light weight, large capacity, small internal resistance, and flexible design. The internal composition of soft-packed lithium batteries is not much different from square and cylindrical lithium batteries. The biggest difference is that the soft-pack lithium battery pack uses aluminum-plastic composite film as the outer casing, while the square and cylindrical batteries use metal material as the outer casing.

Generally speaking, flexible packaging lithium batteries are very safe, as long as they are not violently hit, punctured and set on fire, they are basically very safe. It is safe for normal use and strictly follow the instructions.

However, the safety of flexible packaging lithium batteries still needs to be improved. In fact, the root cause of lithium battery pack burning and even explosion is thermal runaway inside the battery. Essentially, "thermal runaway" is a positive feedback loop of energy: an elevated temperature will cause the system to heat up, which heats up and raises the temperature, which in turn makes the system hotter. Thermal runaway is a common phenomenon.
