What is the difference between soft pack and aluminum case lithium battery?

(1) In regions/countries with high consumption levels, the use of flexible packaging lithium ion battery packs has great advantages. In most developing countries, such as India and the Middle East, aluminum shell batteries have obvious advantages.


(2) The quality and energy density of flexible packaging lithium ion battery pack are higher than that of aluminum shell battery pack. For batteries with the same capacity (2ah~5Ah), flexible packaging lithium ion batteries are about 10% - 20% lighter than aluminum shell lithium ion batteries.


(3) Flexible packaging lithium ion battery is very important for the middle and high-end market. The profit margin per unit product is very high. Under the same production conditions, the relative profit is higher than that of aluminum shell lithium ion battery, and the return on capital cycle is also shorter. As the aluminum case battery is easy to form scale effect, and the product qualification rate and cost are easy to control, both of them have considerable profits in their respective market areas


(4) From the perspective of technical maturity, the aluminum shell technology is very mature, with low requirements for material technology (such as air expansion rate, expansion rate and other indicators), and there is no technical barrier in the industry; At present, there are still many technical problems to be solved for flexible packaging lithium ion batteries, especially the battery cycle expansion index, which is an unsolved problem for most battery manufacturers. The manufacturing automation of aluminum shell battery is higher than that of lithium ion battery pack and soft battery pack. Therefore, the impact of human factors on product consistency is reduced to a certain extent, and the human cost is saved.


(5) In terms of manufacturing cost, aluminum shell lithium ion battery materials have been completely localized, while aluminum plastic film materials of flexible packaging lithium ion batteries still need to be imported. The technical requirements of aluminum shell batteries on battery materials are lower than those of flexible packaging lithium ion batteries. Therefore, under the same capacity, the overall material cost is about 10% lower than that of flexible packaging lithium ion batteries. In addition, the finished product processing is simple and reliable, and the cost advantage is obvious. In addition, the finished aluminum shell lithium ion battery is easy to process, the lithium ion battery pack is reliable, and the cost advantage is obvious


(6) The aluminum shell of lithium ion battery is designed as square and round. The aluminum shell is generally made of aluminum manganese alloy, which contains important alloy components, such as manganese, copper, magnesium, silicon and iron. These five alloys play different roles in the aluminum cladding of lithium ion batteries. For example, Cu and Mg improve the strength and hardness, Mn improves the corrosion resistance, Si improves the heat treatment effect of magnesium containing aluminum alloy, and Fe improves the high temperature strength. Light weight, safety and the resulting performance advantages make aluminum shells the mainstream of lithium-ion battery shells. At present, the aluminum shell of lithium ion battery is still developing towards high hardness and lightweight technology, which will provide better technology for the market


(7) The aluminum shell lithium ion battery adopts the laser sealing process, and the flexible packaging lithium ion battery adopts the hot melt process. In terms of sealing performance, aluminum shell battery is superior to flexible packaging lithium ion battery to prevent aging and air leakage at the seal; The bursting pressure of flexible packaging lithium ion battery is far lower than that of aluminum shell battery. Due to the use of aluminum plastic composite film packaging, the mechanical strength of flexible packaging lithium ion batteries is not high. In case of safety accidents such as internal short circuit, the battery is easy to explode and exhaust, reducing the explosion risk. However, the aluminum case battery uses a fully sealed process. Under the same conditions, it is difficult to discharge the air pressure, which increases the potential safety hazard
