Power soft pack batteries and power hard pack batteries have their own advantages and disadvantages. In this case, what is the difference between power soft pack batteries and power hard pack batteries? Why do electric vehicle power batteries not use soft pack batteries?
What is the difference between a power soft pack battery and a power hard pack battery?
1. The biggest difference between soft-pack batteries and hard-pack batteries is similar to their names. The basic difference lies in the packaging structure of a battery. The packaging technology of soft-pack batteries generally uses polymer shells, and aluminum-plastic film packaging is used in structure. ; And hard-pack batteries are generally packaged in a steel shell or an aluminum shell.
2. The pouch battery has good safety performance: the pouch battery is structurally packaged with aluminum-plastic film. When safety concerns arise, pouch cells generally explode and crack, not like steel or aluminum cased batteries.
3. The soft pack battery is light in weight: the weight of the flexible battery is 40% lighter than that of the steel shell lithium battery and 20% lighter than that of the aluminum shell lithium battery.
4. The internal resistance of the soft pack battery is smaller than that of the lithium battery, which can greatly reduce the self-consumption of the battery.
5. The soft pack battery has good cycle performance: the battery has a longer cycle life, and the attenuation after 100 cycles is 4% to 7% smaller than that of the aluminum case.
6. Flexible design of soft pack battery: the shape can be changed to any shape, and it can also be thinner. It can be customized according to customer needs to develop new cell models.
Hard-pack batteries are further divided into cylindrical batteries and square batteries. At present, most hard-pack batteries on the market adopt a square structure. Due to the different packaging technology, hard-pack batteries are actually better than soft-pack batteries in terms of sealing. However, the particularity of the soft pack battery can determine its shape and structure according to the needs of customers, so which kind of battery is used depends on the environment in which it is used.
Why do electric vehicle power batteries not use soft pack batteries?
Because of the special nature of the pouch battery, the manufacturing cost of the pouch battery will be relatively high, because basically the original aluminum-plastic film is imported; at the same time, the production efficiency of using the pouch battery will be relatively low, which is very important. To a certain extent, the production cost of electric vehicles is increased; and the structure of soft-pack batteries is slightly weaker than that of hard-pack batteries due to structural reasons.
Therefore, the most important thing is that the production cost of soft-pack batteries will increase a lot compared to traditional hard-pack batteries. In addition, due to structural reasons, many car companies finally do not consider the feasibility of soft-pack batteries.
