Correct charging method of lithium battery


Charging

The safe working voltage range of lithium battery is 2.8~4.2V. Below or above this voltage range, the lithium ions in the battery become very unstable and even cause accidents. To keep the battery in a safe range, a special charger is required. These chargers automatically adjust their charging method based on the current state of the battery.


Activate

Before the lithium charger starts charging, it will supply the battery with a small current, and at the same time detect the battery voltage change, and gradually increase the current until the set value. This process can be viewed as an activation or test charge.


Constant current variable voltage charging

The charger charges the battery with a constant current, and as the battery voltage increases, the charger simultaneously increases the charging voltage to speed up charging.


Variable current and constant voltage charging

When the battery reaches the cut-off voltage of 4.2V, the battery is only charged to about 70% of the power (not full). At this time, the charger continues to charge the battery with a constant voltage and a gradually decreasing current, and stops charging when the value is less than 0.1A and still detects that the battery voltage continues to rise.


Correct charging method of polymer lithium battery

1. When charging the polymer lithium battery, it is best to choose the original special charger, otherwise it will affect or damage the polymer lithium battery.

2. It is best to charge the polymer lithium battery in a slow charging method, and try to avoid fast charging. Repeated charging and discharging will also affect the life of the polymer lithium battery.

3. If the mobile phone is not used for more than 7 days, the polymer lithium battery should be fully charged before use. The polymer lithium battery has self-discharge phenomenon.

4. The charging time of the polymer lithium battery is not as long as possible. For ordinary chargers, when the polymer lithium battery is fully charged, it should stop charging immediately, otherwise the polymer lithium battery will affect the battery performance due to heat or overheating.

5. After the polymer lithium battery is charged, try to avoid placing it on the charger for more than 10 hours. If it is not used for a long time, the mobile phone and the polymer lithium battery should be separated.


Precautions for Correct Charging of Lithium Batteries

1. Avoid charging at high temperature

If the lithium battery is used in an environment higher than the specified operating temperature, that is, above 35°C, the power of the battery will continue to decrease, that is, the battery will not last as long as usual. If the device is charged at such a temperature, the damage to the battery will be even greater. Even if the battery is stored in a hot environment, it will inevitably cause corresponding damage to the quality of the battery. Therefore, trying to maintain a suitable operating temperature is a good way to extend the life of lithium batteries.


2. Avoid charging at too low temperature

If the lithium battery is used in a low temperature environment, that is, below 4°C, the battery life will also be reduced, and the original lithium battery of some mobile phones cannot even be charged in a low temperature environment. But don't worry too much, this is only a temporary situation, different from the use in a high temperature environment, once the temperature rises, the molecules in the battery are heated and immediately return to the previous power level.


3. Frequent use

Life is movement. To get the most out of a lithium-ion battery, you need to use it frequently so that the electrons in the lithium-ion battery are always in a state of flow. If you do not use the lithium battery often, please remember to complete a charging cycle for the lithium battery every month and do a power calibration, that is, deep discharge and deep charging.<
